reFocus 2023 Black and White Photo Awards
Professional Landscape Division for my series "Painting with Light"
About the series: The great Miroslav Tichý once stated, "Photography is painting with light.” Light can fall at various intensities and highlight areas differently daily, creating countless ways to paint with light.
2023 IPA (International Photography Awards) Extreme Sports Honorable Mention
The title, Woman Wanderers, is about women's empowerment, and the title comes from an Olive Schreiner poem. Women, for years, have had to fight their way to the top. As my mother used to quote Charlotte Whitton, "Whatever women do, they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult." What better way to show women rising to meet challenges and overcome obstacles (and often enjoying the challenges) than through rock climbing? Climbing is a mixture of power and grace, where one dances up rock faces, finding choreography through each movement.
